Start with a conversation, not a campaign.

A simple way to approach community participation: listen closely, answer useful questions, and earn trust over time.

Community marketing begins before you publish anything. The first step is to understand what people are already trying to solve and which contributions a community welcomes.

Listen before you join

Read the conversations already taking place. Notice the questions that recur, the language people use, and the kinds of answers they appreciate.

Before contributing, check the community rules and understand when commercial participation is welcome.

Write down the questions your team can answer from direct experience. That gives you a useful map of where you can help and where a brand mention would be out of place.

Be useful in one small way

Choose a question you can answer from experience. Offer a specific example, explain a trade-off, or point to a useful resource.

A useful answer should still help if the product name is removed. Explain the criteria behind a recommendation first; introduce your product only when it genuinely fits the question and the rules allow it.

Build a habit

Return to the conversation. Answer follow-up questions and note what you learn. Treat participation as a relationship rather than a one-time distribution channel.

Review the work by asking whether the answer resolved the question or prompted a useful discussion. Reach and clicks can be useful signals, but they are not substitutes for trust.
